Rising enthusiasm within the international assistance community about the potential role of businesses in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals – and SDG 16 in particular – is not matched by evidence about effective corporate practices, or by a clear understanding of how such evidence might be generated. This paper defines parameters of evaluative methodologies for understanding corporate impacts on peace. It is based on 11 case studies, the findings of a CDA learning project on “business and peace”, a number of key informant interviews, and on CDA’s years of experience collaborating with peacebuilders and responsible businesses in fragile and conflict-affected areas.
